World Team Chess Championship got of to a rousing start at Dan Hotel, Jerusalem on Sunday. As per the regulations, 12 teams are divided to two pools and after the league face four teams in each group will advance to the knockout stage.

Indian team consists of Vidit Gujarathi, Nihal Sarin, S L Naryanan, Sethuraman S P, K Sasikiran, Abhijeet Gupta and non-playing Captain Vaibhav Suri pooled along with Azerbaijan, USA, Olympiad winners Uzbekistan, Poland and host Israel. In the opening match, India held to a draw by the host Israel as all the four games ended without decisive results and in second match India split the point with Poland.

In the third and fourth matches in the group stage on Monday, India takes on Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan respectively.
