Ajay Patel elected as Asian Zone President

President of Gujarat State Chess Association and Chairman of Gujarat State Co-operative Bank Shri Ajay H Patel unanimously elected as the President of Asian Zone 3.7 in the Annual General Body meeting of All India Chess Federation held on Sunday at New Delhi.
Apart from being a popular leader in the co-operative sector of Gujarat, he is also a source of inspiration for the development of the sports especially chess. With his vision, Gujarat State Chess Association introduced the Chess training programs in the schools of Gujarat, which received wide acceptance throughout the state. He also played an instrumental role in launching Sardar Patel Chess College, the first ever chess college in India, which is affiliated under Swarnim Gujarat Sports University. Mr. Patel’s elevation as President of Asian Zone 3.7 will be a big boost for chess in India as the World Chess Federation granted special zone status for the country.
In another major decision, the General Body decided to nominate the Secretary of the Federation Mr. Bharat Singh Chauhan as FIDE Delegate to represent India before the World Chess Federation.
