Anand tied for second place in Altibox Norway Chess Blitz.

The 6th edition of Altibox Norway Chess kicked off with traditional Blitz Opener yesterday. GM Wesley So (U.S.A) emerged as winner with impressive 6.0/9 points. Whereas, GM Hikaru Nakamura (U.S.A) and GM Viswanathan Anand tied for second place at 5.5/9 points respectively.

The Classical event will begin today at 8.00pm IST. The 10-player round-robin featuring World Champion Magnus Carlsen, former World Champion Viswanathan Anand and most of the world’s best players is being held at Stavanger, Norway

  1. GM Wesley So – 6/9
  2. GM Hikaru Nakamura – 5.5/9
  3. GM Viswanathan Anand – 5.5/9
  4. GM Magnus Carlsen – 5/9
  5. GM Shakhriyar Mamedyarov – 4.5/9
  6. GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave – 4.5/9
  7. GM Fabiano Caruana – 4.5/9
  8. GM Sergey Karjakin – 3.5/9
  9. GM Levon Aronian – 3/9
  10. GM Ding Liren – 3/9
