Top seed International Master Eesha Karavade (PSPB) shared the lead with 2.0 points after the second round of the 43rd National Women Challengers Chess Championship 2016 at Nehru Stadium, Chennai here today.

A clinical win on the top board with Woman International Master Jennitha Anto of TN took Eesha on top of the leaderboard. She now shares the lead with IMs Vijayalakshmi S, Mohota Nisha and WGMs Soumya Swaminathan, Swati Ghate, Kiran Manisha Mohanty among others.

22 players remain at 2.0 points in this 118 player eleven round event. In a surprise result, former National Champion and Woman Grandmaster Mary Ann Gomes shed half a point to fellow Kolkata player Woman FIDE Master Arpita Mukherjee.

Important Results (Round 2) Jennitha Anto K (1) lost to Karavade Eesha (2), Vijayalakshmi Subbaraman (2) bt Sunyuktha C M N (1), Alka Das (1) lost to Soumya Swaminathan (2), Arpita Mukherjee (1.5) drew with Gomes Mary Ann (1.5), Vaishali R (2) bt Isha Sharma (1), Shweta Gole (1) lost to Swati Ghate (2), Mohota Nisha (2) bt Ghosh Samriddhaa (1), Meenal Gupta (1) lost to Mahalakshmi M (2), Srija Seshadri (2) bt Saranya Y (1), Roy Pallabi (1) lost to Nandhidhaa P V (2).
