India started its medal hunt in Asian Youth Chess Championship-2018 at Chiang Mai, Thailand with 6 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze in the opening day Rapid Events. More than 90 youngsters are representing Indian in the six age-category Asian Meet being played in all the three – Rapid, Classical and Blitz formats. The Classical leg will commence today.

Adireddy Arjun emerged as a winner in U8 Boys with 6.0/7. IM Gukesh D dominated U12 Boys with unbeatable 7.0/7. India registered two medals in U12 Girls, WCM Sahithi Varshini occupied the pole position whereas, Savitha Shri B settled for second position. AGM Srihari tied for the first place in U14 Boys. Mrudul Dehankar emerged victorious in girls U14 category. Seventh-seeded Koustav Chatterjee settled for second in U16 Boys. After a second round loss, Salonika Saina bounced back and grabbed the pole position in U16 Girls. FM Mitrabha Guha tied for second in U18 Boys. Arpita Mukherjee was unstoppable with 7.0/7 in U18 Girls.
