AICF Admin 11 months ago

India continues to dominate in the 45th Chess Olympiad, with both the men’s and women’s teams securing strong performances in the sixth round, winning all their matches so far.

In the men’s category, India claimed a 3-1 victory over Hungary. Key contributors were Arjun Erigaisi, who defeated Russian-born Hungarian GM Sjugirov Sanan, and Vidit Santosh Gujrathi, who overcame Benjamin Gledura. D Gukesh drew against Hungary’s top player Richard Rapport, while R Praggnanandhaa also signed a draw with the seasoned Peter Leko.

With this win, India is leading the standings, capitalizing on China’s draw with Vietnam in the same round.

The Indian women’s team secured a 2.5-1.5 victory over Armenia. Divya Deshmukh delivered a crucial win against Elena Danielian. Meanwhile, D Harika and R Vaishali drew their matches with Lilit Mkrtchian and Mariyam Mkrtchyan respectively. Finally, Tania Sachdev played strategically to ensure a draw against Anna Sargasyan, clinching the overall match win.

India’s continued success keeps both teams at the forefront of the Olympiad, enhancing their chances of securing medals.
