National Under 17 Chess Championship – 2023 :Final Report

National Under 17 Open Chess Championship – 2023, Organised by : District Chess Association, Jalandhar, Punjab at DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kabir Nagar,Jalandhar, Punjab 1 st May 2023 to 09 th May 2023.

The venue was spacious and well ventilated.  The event attracted a total number of 150 players from 21 States. There were 3 Fide Masters and 5 Candidate Masters participating in this event. The top seed of the event was FIDE Master Harsh Suresh of Tamil Nadu with a FIDE Rating of 2298. After the end of the 11th round Candidate Master Mayank Chakraborty  2025 of Assam emerged as the Champion with 10 points, Ajay Santosh Parvathareddy 1925 of Uttar Pradesh stood First Runner Up and Vignesh Advaith Vemula 2004 stood as Second Runner Up.In Girls section the event attracted a total number of 95 players from 21 States. There were 3 Women Candidate Masters participating in this event. The top seed of the event was Mrittika Mallick of West Bengal with a FIDE Rating of 1948. After the end of the 11th round Mrittika Mallick 1948of West Bengal emerged as the Champion with 9½ points, Velpula Sarayu1835of Telangana stood First Runner Up and Rajanya Datta 1556 of West Bengal stood as Second Runner Up.

During this Chess Championship the work of all the Arbiters was up to the mark and Norm Certificates were given to SNA Kashish Sharma , SNA Dinesh Gera ,SNA Shubham Trikha and SNA Shilpa.
