Two in Open and Three in Girls share lead after six rounds

33rd VMRDA national under-13 Open & Gilrs Chess Championship, 2019

World under 10 Bronze medalist V.Pranav (Tamil Nadu) and FM Jubin Jimmy (Kerala) in open and Top seed Velpulu Sarayu (Telangana), Kirti Mayur Patel (Maharashtra) and Yash Jyoti Bir (West Bengal) in girls are jointly leading the table at the end of the sixth round of the 33rd VMRDA national under -13 chess championship now in progress at VMRDA Children’s arena ,Visakhapatnam.

While the leaders in the open are sitting pretty with 6 points each, the three leaders in the girls are having 5.5 points each. On the top table, Second seed V. Pranav inflicted a defeat over Manish Kumar (Orissa) in a miniature game of king pawn opening. When Pranav was about to trap black’s bishop on his 23rd move his opponent resigned in vain.

Nikhil Magizhan was in the receiving end against Kerala’s Jubin Jimmy‘ s caro kann defence. Jubin Jimmy demonstrated a great skill in the end game to trap Nikhil’s king to score full point. Velpula Sarayu settled for a draw against third seed Boramanikar Tanisha S Maharastra) in an irregular Queen pawn opening to stay at 5.5 points while Kriti Mayur Patel (Maharastra) and Yash Jyoti Bir (West Bengal) defeated Ananya Arumbakkam (Karnataka) and Kheerthi Gangta (Telengana) respectively to join the top seed in the lead.Inportant Results of Round 6:
