India Widens Lead By 4550

Indian widened the lead over the main European nations of France, Russia, Spain and Germany in number of FIDE Rated players in the September 2014 rating list published by FIDE.

India jumped to 42752, while France climbed to 38202. Thus, India’s lead is 4550 players. India went past France only ten months back and the size of the lead in this short period of time denotes that the game is popular and is also administered well in the country it was born.

There are four Indians in the top 100 in men and four women in the top 100 for women.

World Elite: 1 Carlsen 2870, 2 Aronian 2804, 3 Caruana 2801, 4 Grischuk 2789, 5 Anand 2785, 6 Topalov 2784, 7 Nakamura 2782, 8 Karjakin 2777, 9 Vachier-Lagrave 2768, 10 Kramnik 2760.
